The heaquarters of Studio Mao are located at 590 Madison Avenue in the IBM building, considered by many as an architectural masterpiece conceived by the architect Edward Larrabee Barnes. A powerful tower of steel and clad in polished Atlantic green granite, the building is recognized for its distinctive, soaring, cantilevered entrance, and the Alexander Calder sculpture “Saurien” on the corner of 57th Street and Madison Avenue. The 56th Street glass-enclosed public gallery features one of the finest rotating contemporary art installations in the country.
