ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER:
Stephen Mao served as the chief freelance photographer for the Associated Press in Los Angeles, California from 1978 to 1982 under the direction of bureau chief Spencer Jones and was mentored by Pulitzer prize winning photographer Nick Ut. Prior to his work at the AP Stephen Mao photographed for the Palo Alto Times, San Francisco Chronicle Examiner and other San Francisco Bay Area publications.  Today only commissioned assignments are accepted on film based media and high resolution digital backs with Nikon, Hasselblad and Leica equipment.

TRIVIA:
The negatives to the photographs were maintained in a controlled environment for 20 years before being selected for publication.

Only 250 editions of these photographs will be made available to a select group of collectors and clients.  Ten editions have consigned to auctions benefiting charity organizations supported by Studio Mao .
